Offinso, Ghana – June 2024
In a remarkable display of humanitarian effort, the GRAFT Foundation successfully provided free reconstructive surgeries to 235 individuals from May 31st to June 7th, 2024, at St. Patrick Hospital, Offinso. This philanthropic initiative addressed 245 anomalies, including cleft lip and palate, hernia, genital lymphedema, giant lipoma, and various other swellings.
The week-long event brought together a dedicated team of medical professionals and volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure that each patient received the necessary care. The beneficiaries, who ranged in age and background, expressed profound gratitude for the life-changing surgeries that would significantly improve their quality of life.
Dr. Kwame Abrokwaa-Yankyera, the founder of GRAFT Foundation, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in bridging the healthcare gap in underserved communities. “Our mission is to restore hope and dignity to individuals who otherwise would not have access to these surgeries. We are committed to making a lasting impact in the lives of those we serve,” he said.
Among the patients was a young girl who had been living with a cleft lip and palate since birth. Her mother, overwhelmed with joy, shared her relief and happiness. “We have been waiting for this moment for years. This surgery will change her life forever, and we are eternally grateful to the GRAFT Foundation and everyone involved.”
The GRAFT Foundation has been at the forefront of providing free medical services to communities in need, with a focus on reconstructive surgeries. Their work not only improves physical health but also enhances the emotional and psychological well-being of their beneficiaries.
Looking ahead, the foundation aims to extend its reach even further. They plan to offer free surgeries to an additional 300 people in October 2024. However, to achieve this ambitious goal, they are calling on partners, corporate bodies, and individuals to support their cause. Donations and sponsorships are crucial to ensuring the continuity and expansion of their services.
